New in 2020! We've established a new sourcing relationship with a social enterprise operating in the DR Congo: Mighty Peace Coffee. This coffee comes from a lot named "Kuibuka," which translates as "Rise Up" in Swahili. Combined with the fact that it was grown on "Peace Island," and the coffee practically named itself.
Might Peace Coffee is a social enterprise focused on quality specialty coffee production in the DR Congo, as well as social impact for the producing communities. They have a long-term commitment to invest in these producers year after year by focusing on quality, consistency, and paying fair prices for coffee.
The sale of this coffee has had a great impact on the socio-economic conditions of the island population, most notably the reduction of drowning caused by illegal trafficking to Rwanda, and the reintegration of sexual violence survivors and ex-combatants into the cooperative.
